The Cosmic Paradigm Newsletter

Thanks to those who took time to comment on my last
newsletter. I value your opinions.
I can only hope that you read my newsletter of March 25th.
The following makes more sense if it is taken in the context of my view that we
are in the midst of the pivotal juncture in human history. I believe it is
important to face that reality; it is even more important to make sure the
outcome benefits all inhabitants of this planet.
Several years ago, I was going through a divorce recovery
class. The teacher stressed forgiveness as a critical piece of healing.
"Forgive, but do not forget. For it is by remembering that you gain
wisdom." I went through every relationship with which I was struggling,
with which I had struggled in past years. It was not until I forgave everyone
that I was able to move on with my life. And yes, I tucked away the lesson that
I had learned from every valuable experience.
In a similar vein, forgiveness is a prerequisite for moving
forward to heal this planet. Ask yourself how many of your personal problems,
how many of the world's problems stem from holding onto anger, hurt, and
injustice. Ask yourself how many problems could be solved by letting go of
enmity, blame, bitterness, resentment, disapproval, judgment, and prejudice.
I see age-old anger in the faces of the Middle East. I see
anger in the faces of those who are the victims of crime, of terrorist attack.
I see hurt in those whose relationships have not worked, in those from broken
homes, in those who have been abused. I see injustice in the faces of the
hungry. I don't have to look far to find some who has some grievance.
The great religions all teach that we should forgive. We have modern examples like Nelson Mandella
and Gandhi who forgave, forgave those who opposed them, forgave those who
abused them. Jesus forgave those who put him to death.
(The feeling I have as I write these words is one of wonder
and awe at their power. I see this first step so clearly. Yes it is hard, but
it is so cleansing, so unburdening, so profound.)
I want to suggest that we move beyond those with whom we are
in contact, or have have been in past contact . We must forgive our current
world leaders. Be they elected or dictators, they are only men and women like
you and me. Regardless of how just or unjust, most of them believe they are
doing the "right thing." And while we are about it, let's forgive the
leaders of the past five hundred thousand years who have allowed us to slip into
this world situation. And while we are at it letıs forgive our ancestors for
allowing them to rule unjustly. Most importantly, letıs forgive ourselves for
allowing the current situation to take place. After all, we are responsible for
everything that happens to us.
We must also forgive corporate executives, and all others,
whose measure of self-worth is money. And forgive those who use money to
purchase power. They are, after all, only men and women. And forgive those
whose focus in life is to accumulate "stuff." And forgive those who,
for any one of a whole variety of reasons, defile our land, water, and air. And
forgive those who, in their arrogance, deem it their right to use up our land
and natural resources, resources designed for many generations. And forgive those
who develop all manner of terrible weapons. And forgive those who persecute and
make war on others in the name of religion, philosophy, economics, and/or fear.
In short, we must forgive all who put their interests before
those of their brothers and sisters, their fellow inhabitants of this planet.
If we will but listen to them, extraterrestrials are teaching us a form of love
practiced by the masters: To see that which another needs, and to give it to
him or her before they even know they need it.
I believe a critical part of this process is to recognize
that there are non-human conscious life forms who are much wiser than you or
me, beings who have accumulated far greater experiences. Be they mortals from
another planet, the celestials who attend to us, or the divinity who created
us, I believe it behooves us to recognize their higher consciousness, their
"spirituality." Remember, it is our arrogance that leads us to
thinking we know it all, that keeps us making the same mistakes over, and over.
In my next letter, I will talk about the crucial step that
we must take if we are to save not only ourselves, but this world.
