The Cosmic Paradigm Newsletter
by Mark Kimmel & Associates
January 28, 2005

Dear Friends,

Welcome to all those joining us for the first time. I am grateful to those who continue. This newsletter now goes out to people around the globe. Thank you for the opportunity to share the truth about the larger reality.

The material immediately below is a chapter from my new handbook, “Creating the Cosmic Paradigm.” Folks who attended my recent talks in Florida and New York received a copy of the book. I will have it available in Montrose and in Denver for those talks. Those of you who are meeting with me individually will receive a copy. It is not available in bookstores. It will be available at http://www.cosmicparadigm.com  as soon as I work out details.

I suspect this material will rub some of you the wrong way. I am sure to be accused of focusing on the dark side of our existing paradigm. Yes, this material is dark; it is also true. As we discussed in New York and Florida, it is like being in a dark tunnel. What I discovered were people who were able to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel. I encourage each of you to do just that.

Obfuscation (Chapter 7)

Records, from as far back as 1931, indicate that various agencies of the U.S. government, and individuals under contract to the government, have conducted secret experiments on unsuspecting human subjects. These include experiments to discover reactions to radiation, cancer, syphilis, malaria, mustard gas, lewisite, fluoride, bacteria, viruses, yellow fever, dioxin, hepatitis, and anthrax. Without informing them, these experiments have used hospital patients, prisoners, military personnel, and the general populace. These incidents occurred repeatedly, at different locations, and with different groups of subjects.

Beginning with project MKULTRA in the 1950s, various intelligence agencies conducted mind control and behavior modification experiments. In addition to various psychiatric modalities, mind-altering drugs such as LSD were utilized. Electromagnetic waves, psychotronics, were shown to produce a variety of affects.

These abuses have come to light only after those responsible were no longer in positions of authority and/or deceased. There have been investigations, hand wringing, promises to desist, but few repercussions.

Numbed people watch power struggles as they play before us in the news. Politics is a favorite game to distract the masses from the actions of those who really control our lives. Corporate scandals, financial maneuverings, corrupt government officials, and crimes of violence all play important roles in helping the public to focus on the darker side of our existence – without really changing the basics of the game. Movies and television keep us locked into a never–ending “Alice in Wonderland” reality.

Mind control has evolved from the days of overt propaganda. Today it involves everything from the covert messages of Hollywood and the media to the brainwashing provided to military and intelligence operatives to the recruitment of the unwary into undertaking acts of violence. Mind control can never be used for good; by its very nature – control – it invades the decision-making process of another.

Beyond the media and mind control is the monitoring of the populace. Recent terrorist threats have made the need for surveillance more acceptable to the public. Telephone conversations are routinely monitored for key words and phrases. The Internet provides freedom of expression and huge amounts of information. Now it too is the subject of scrutiny by those looking to control people.

Hundreds of books and millions of web sites currently offer stories about extraterrestrial contact. Yet, popular opinion, mainstream media, and official pronouncements refuse to deal with the subject.

The belief among UFO investigators is that it was okay in the forties and fifties to hide the reality of UFOs and extraterrestrials, to misinform, to lie. They contend that people simply were not ready to receive the information. That was not true then; it is not true today.

If we examine the history of contact more closely, we see a different picture. There is the truism that, “knowledge is power.” Those who have known the truth about extraterrestrial contact, those who were involved with it, saw that this gave them an edge over their fellow man. Disclosure would have lessened their power, their ability to control. Therefore, they deliberately hid the truth.

After this began, even if some had wanted to, the majority of those in the know recognized that they had much to account for, and were unwilling to take the consequences. So, they continued to hide the truth.

Sure, many UFO events surfaced in one newspaper or another, on local radio and television, but those who wished to hide the truth made sure it went no further. It was easy to ridicule the occasional article as the imagination of a crazy person.

Digging deeper, we find a more nefarious situation. Several crashes of ET craft had provided debris. With several years and billion of dollars, reverse-engineering efforts have born fruit. In cooperation with key private sector corporations, advanced technologies were forthcoming. Integrated circuits, fiber optics, night vision goggles, and lasers resulted. Now, there was even more motivation to hide the truth.

Over the last fifty years, there have been many former military and intelligence people willing to testify to the cover-up of extraterrestrial contact. Their stories have been amazingly consistent: They have witnessed UFOs over military bases. They have been involved in incidents where ET craft crashed. They have been involved in retrieving pieces and parts of craft. They have seen and communicated with off-planet beings. They have been a party to and have witnessed the dedicated and systematic effort to hide all of these events.

The media have played a vital role in keeping truth from the public and assisting in mind control. The intelligence community has conspired with certain members of the national media to engage in propaganda, as well as censorship, targeting, character assassination, disinformation, requiring “scientific” proof, confiscation of evidence, sabotage, threats, harassment, and incarceration. Control of the national media is in the hands of a few large corporations.

Behind these efforts, buried even deeper within intelligence organizations and their corporate confederates, is active cooperation with off-planet beings. Only at the deepest levels of black operations, at the highest levels of covert organizations, within certain financial and corporate entities, is the truth known. The testimony of a few courageous participants and circumstantial evidence surrounding certain incidents points to the reality of this situation. ALF have confirmed the existence of this arrangement. The situation is encouraged by those heading our institutions, by those seeking power over their fellow man.

Focus 7: With the success at hiding the truth, it is no wonder that so many people find it hard to admit to a larger reality. Open yourself to possibilities outside the box, and it will emerge.

The cover-up of secret experiments shows how some in positions of power are willing to abuse those they consider inferior. Even when these experiments come to light, there is no public reaction, no outrage. Why? Does anyone doubt that similar experiments are being carried out today, perhaps with the lives of those reading these words?

Which of our commonly consumed foods and drugs are the results of such experiments? Which of our foods are designed to enhance our acceptance of the conventional paradigm, to numb us to the larger reality?

The cover-up of UFOs and extraterrestrial contact is a big story; it is also but the tip of the iceberg. Those who know have managed to keep the truth below the “radar screen” of the public for the past fifty years in order to maintain the status quo, to keep their power structure in place. What would cause those who have been burying the truth about UFOs and extraterrestrials to disclose it?

Antarctica, Warming, Looks Ever More Vulnerable
LARRY ROHTER, The New York Times

Over the Abbott Ice Shelf Antarctica -- From an airplane at 500 feet, all that is visible here is a vast white emptiness. Ahead, a chalky plain stretches as far as the eye can see, the monotony broken only by a few gentle rises, and the wrinkles created when new sheets of ice form.

Under the surface of that ice, though, profound and potentially troubling changes are taking place, and at a quickened pace. With temperatures climbing in parts of Antarctica in recent years, melt water seems to be penetrating deeper and deeper into ice crevices, weakening immense and seemingly impregnable formations that have developed over thousands of years.

As a result, huge glaciers in this and other remote areas of Antarctica are thinning and ice shelves the size of American states are either disintegrating or retreating - all possible indications of global warming. Scientists from the British Antarctic Survey reported in December that in some parts of the Antarctic Peninsula hundreds of miles from here, large growths of grass are appearing in places that until recently were hidden under a frozen cloak.

“ The evidence is piling up; everything fits," Dr. Robert Thomas, a glaciologist from NASA who is the lead author of a recent paper on accelerating sea-level rise, said as the Chilean Navy plane flew over the sea ice here on an unusually clear day late in November. "Around the Amundsen Sea, we have surveyed a half dozen glaciers. All are thinning, in some cases quite rapidly, and in each case, the ice shelf is also thinning."

The relationship between glaciers (essentially frozen rivers) and ice shelves (thick plates of ice protruding from the land and floating on the ocean) is complicated and not fully understood. But scientists like to compare the spot where the "tongue" of a glacier flows to sea in the form of an ice shelf to a cork in a bottle. When the ice shelf breaks up, this can allow the inland ice to accelerate its march to the sea.

“ By themselves, the tongue of the glacier or the cork in the bottle do not represent that much," said Dr. Claudio Teitelboim, the director of the Center for Scientific Studies, a private Chilean institution that is the partner of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in surveying the ice fields of Antarctica and Patagonia. "But once the cork is dislodged, the contents of the bottle flow out, and that can generate tremendous instability."

Glaciologists also know that by itself, free-floating sea ice does not raise the level of the sea, just as an ice cube in a glass of water does not cause an overflow as it melts. But glaciers are different because they rest on land, and if that vast volume of ice slides into the sea at a high rate, this adds mass to the ocean, which in turn can raise the global sea level.

Through their flights over this and other areas of Antarctica, NASA and the Chilean center hope to help glaciologists and other scientists interested in climate change understand what is taking place on the continent and why. To do that, they need to compile data not only on ice thicknesses but also the underlying geology of the region, information that is most easily obtained from the air.

The flights are taking place aboard a Chilean Navy Orion P-3 plane that has been specially equipped with sophisticated instruments. The devices include a laser-imaging system that shoots 5,000 pulses of light per second at the ground to map the ice surface, as well as ice-penetrating radar to determine the depth of the ice sheets, a magnetometer and digital cameras.

For most parts of Antarctica, reliable records go back less than 50 years, and data from satellites and overflights like the ones going on here have been collected over only the past decade or so. But that research, plus striking changes that are visible to the naked eye, all point toward the disturbance of climate patterns thought to have been in place for thousands of years.

In 1995, for instance, the Larsen A ice shelf disintegrated, followed in 1998 by the collapse of the nearby Wilkins ice shelf. Over a 35-day period early in 2002, at the end of the Southern Hemisphere summer, the Larsen B ice shelf shattered, losing more than a quarter of its total mass and setting thousands of icebergs adrift in the Weddell Sea.

"The response time scale of ice dynamics is a lot shorter than we used to think it was," said Dr. Robert Bindschadler, a NASA scientist who is director of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet Initiative. "We don't know what the exact cause is, but what we observe going on today is likely to be what is also happening tomorrow."

Thus far, all of the ice shelves that have collapsed are located on the Antarctic peninsula. In reality a collection of islands, mountain ranges and glaciers, the peninsula juts northward toward Argentina and Chile and is "really getting hot, competing with the Yukon for the title of the fastest warming place on the globe," in the words of Dr. Eric Steig, a glaciologist who teaches at the University of Washington.

According to a recent study published in Geophysical Research Letters, the discharge rate of three important glaciers still remaining on the peninsula accelerated eightfold just from 2000 to 2003. "Ice is thinning at the rate of tens of meters per year" on the peninsula, with glacier elevations in some places having dropped by as much as 124 feet in six months, the study found.

But the narrow peninsula contains relatively little inland ice. Glaciologists are more concerned that they are now beginning to detect similar signs closer to the South Pole, on the main body of the continent, where ice shelves are much larger - and could contribute far more to sea level changes. Of particular interest is this remote and almost inaccessible region known as "the weak underbelly of West Antarctica," where some individual ice shelves are as large as Texas or Spain and much of the land on which they rest lies under sea level.

"This is probably the most active part of Antarctica," said Dr. Eric Rignot, a glaciologist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., and the principal author of the Geophysical Research Letters paper. "Glaciers are changing rapidly and increasingly discharging into the ocean, which contributes to sea level rise in a more significant way than any other part of Antarctica."

According to another paper, published in the journal Science in September, "the catchment regions of Amundsen Sea glaciers contain enough ice to raise sea level by 1.3 meters," or about four feet. While the current sea level rise attributable to glacier thinning here is a relatively modest 0.2 millimeters a year, or about 10 percent of the total global increase, the paper noted that near the coast the process had accelerated and might continue to do so.

As a result, the most recent flights of NASA and the Chilean center have been directed over the Thurston Island and Pine Island zones of West Antarctica, near the point where the Bellinghausen and Amundsen Seas come together. The idea is to use the laser and radar readings being gathered to establish a base line for comparison with future measurements, to be taken every two years or so.

"We're not sure yet how to connect what we see on the peninsula with what we observe going on further south, but both are very clearly dramatic and dynamic events," Dr. Bindschadler said. "On the peninsula, large amounts of melt water are directly connected to disintegration of the ice shelf, but the actual mechanism in West Antarctica, whether melt water, a slippery hill or a firmer bedrock, is not yet clear. Hence the need for more data."

The information being gathered here coincides with the recent publication of a report on accelerating climate change in the Arctic, an area that has been far more scrutinized than Antarctica. That study, commissioned by the United States and seven other nations, found permafrost there to be thawing and glaciers and sea ice to be retreating markedly, raising new concerns about global warming and its impact.

“ The Arctic has lots of land at high latitudes, and the presence of land masses helps snow melt off more quickly," said Dr. Steig. "But there's not a lot of land to speak of in the high latitudes of the Southern Hemisphere," making the search for an explanation of what is going on here even more complicated.

The hypotheses scientists offer for the causes of glacier and ice shelf thinning in Antarctica are varied. Rising air, land and ocean temperatures or some combination of them have all been cited.

Some scientists have even proposed that a healing of the seasonal ozone hole over the South Pole and southernmost Chile, a phenomenon expected to take place in the next 50 years or so, could change the circulation of the atmosphere over the frozen continent in ways that could accelerate the thinning of Antarctic ice fields. But even without that prospect, the situation developing in Antarctica is already sobering, glaciologists agree. The data being collected here in West Antarctica and on the peninsula farther north make that obvious, they say, though the degree to which that should be cause for concern around the rest of the planet will become clear only with more research.

"If Antarctica collapses, it will have a major effect on the whole globe," Dr. Rignot cautioned. He warned that "this is not for tomorrow, and Antarctica is such a big place that it's important to look at other areas" around the perimeter of the giant continent, but added, "Nature is playing a little experiment with us, showing us what could happen if the plug were to be removed."

'SCARY' SCIENCE FINDS EARTH HEATING UP TWICE AS FAST AS THOUGHT

By Leigh Dayton
The Australian
January 27, 2005

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,12063396%255E30417,00.html

The largest ever climate-change experiment reveals that scientists may have dramatically underestimated the threat of global warming.

The study by British scientists, which is published today, found the planet's global temperature could climb by between 2C and 11C because of skyrocketing levels of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide.

That more than doubles the current prediction of a 1.4C to 4.5C rise this century.

"When we started out we didn't expect anything like this," said Oxford University's David Stainforth, chief scientist for climateprediction.net

The project is a collaboration of experts at Oxford and Reading universities, The Open University, London School of Economics, Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research, and Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.

The findings are published in the journal Nature.

"If this is the case, it's very dramatic and very scary," Mr Stainforth said.

Even rises that are more modest are expected to trigger disastrous changes, including melting glaciers, sea-level rises, shut-down of the Gulf Stream, and increases in droughts, cyclones and other extreme weather events. The new results follow two reports in last week's edition of Science, showing that global warming probably caused the "Great Dying".

Although that was the worst extinction in Earth's history -- wiping out more than 90 per cent of all life -- it involved gradual extinctions over about 10 million years, culminating in a sharp extinction pulse 250 million years ago. Further concern comes from an international report released in London last Monday. It warned that climate change could kick in within 10 years, unless greenhouse gas emissions are cut.

The initial goal of climateprediction.net was to evaluate the sensitivity and variables of the Hadley computer model of climate change.

In order to obtain their findings, Mr Stainforth and his colleagues ran 50,000 climate simulations.

Because so much computing power was needed, they relied on help from 90,000 people from 150 countries to run the programs on their personal computers.

More than 1200 Australians, sych as Melbourne academic Nick Hoffman, participated. "I'm interested in the dynamics of planetary atmospheres, so it was well worth supporting (the project)," Dr Hoffman said.

According to Neville Nicholls, head of climate forecasting at the Bureau of Meterology in Melbourne, climateprediction.net is a "terrific project" that tackles the uncertainty of climate predictions. He agreed with CSIRO climate modeller Tony Hirst that: "This may mean that the world could warm up faster than most of us are happy anticipating."
