Halton Lea library - Paranormal Week

More Evidence of a Roswell Coverup?
Steven Aftergood of Secrecy News writes that on July 28, 1995, the General Accounting Office published a report on the Roswell Incident that said all the Roswell records had been destroyed.
Now it's been discovered that the CIA has destroyed the budget records for that period in Roswell also. The records were demanded by New Mexico Congressman Stuart Schiff, now deceased. The report found that "some of the records concerning Roswell activities had been destroyed" and that "there was no information available regarding when or under what authority the records were destroyed."
In fact, all of the activity records for the Roswell Army Air Force Base between 1947 and 1952 had been destroyed, in direct violation of the law. No reason for the destruction of the records was ever found.
Now, it turns out that the CIA's budget records for the same period are missing. These budget reports would have revealed details of budgetary allocations, including possible allocations involving Roswell or other UFO-related activity. In response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit seeking declassification of the intelligence budget totals from 1947 and 1948, the Central Intelligence Agency says that it cannot find this information.
"We are unable to locate a document containing, or a series of documents from which we may deduce, the aggregate U.S. intelligence budget figure for Fiscal Year 1947," wrote Kathryn I. Dyer, CIA Information and Privacy Coordinator, in a June 27 letter to the Federation of American Scientists.
Likewise, "We are unable to locate a document containing, or a series of documents from which we may deduce, the aggregate U.S. intelligence budget figure for Fiscal Year 1948."

Crop circles of Solano County
Solano County - Rockville - California - USA - True believers, visionaries, psychics and people in purple robes were lying down in the middle of a Solano County wheat field on Wednesday, where vortexes were converging and all things were possible.
"I feel like I'm melting right into the earth," said Lily Kyle. "It's intense. There's a coalescence, no doubt about it."
Kyle was among hundreds of folks who have come to the field at the junction of Suisun Valley Road and Rockville Road, about four miles west of Fairfield. It was there, on Saturday morning, that a half-dozen crop circles were discovered in the waist-high stalks of grain.
Sylvia Keita, a journeyman psychic from the Berkeley Psychic Institute, brought her mother and her 12-year-old daughter to the wheat field.
"I can feel the healing energy," she said.
"It's real," said her mom, Michelle.
"I think it's making my asthma better," said her daughter, Danielle.
Dozens of people walked up and down the wheat field, snapping pictures, lying in the crushed stalks, taking measurements, dancing, breathing deeply, humming and waving their arms to the heavens. Some snatched up handfuls of the crushed wheat and said they would take them home and either eat them, plant them in their gardens or sprinkle them on their ailing body parts.
"I feel vacillations," said Connie Pearson, who came from New Orleans. "Low vibrations. I feel reality, which is a function of agreement. It's very exciting to be here."
Carolyn North, who dropped by the wheat field, has written two books herself. Crop circles, she said, are "authentic happenings" and "one of the genuine mysteries of our time."
She also said she could feel a cosmic power, after pacing in the circle for about a minute.
"The energy is coming up toward my throat," she said. "I feel a sense of calm and of reassurance."

Larry King talks aliens
The Cable News Network’s Larry King Live featured a discussion focused on the Roswell Incident Tuesday night about the possibility of life on other planets, in particular the ones who decided one July day in 1947 to crash land their lightweight saucer onto a Chaves County ranch.
A consensus was reached by all involved, except King, that something big happened at a ranch not too far from here 56 years ago — and they claim the government covered it up, fearing exposing the truth would be too dangerous.
Tuesday’s broadcast featured not only a series of tough King-questions but footage from documentaries, pictures of Roswell from that long-gone era and footage of high-ranking military officials denying anything serious happened here.
Walter Haut, Glenn Dennis, Dr. Jesse Marcel Jr., Nancy Johnston and Julie Shuster represent just a handful of people with local connections who swear something happened here, either UFO-related or possibly some military, Cold-War incident that will remain classified for national security reasons.
Shuster’s comments were interesting in their characterization of the Roswell Incident’s main players.
“These are people with integrity who are conservative people,” she said. “If they say something happened, something happened.”

Celestial Soulmate? Jupiter-like Planet Found in Solar System Similar to Ours
An international team of planet hunters have found the closest thing yet to a solar system similar to our own out in space; a Jupiter-like planet orbiting its parent star in a Jupiter-like orbit.
Researchers with the Anglo-Australian Telescope (AAT) in New South Wales, Australia detected a large planet orbiting HD 70642, a Sun-like star situated 90 light-years from Earth out toward the Puppis constellation. The planetary find was announced Thursday in Paris at the "Extrasolar Planets: Today and Tomorrow" conference.
Penny is a member of the United Kingdom portion of the UK-Australian team at the AAT seeking extrasolar systems that resemble our own planetary neighborhood. Hugh Jones, of Liverpool John Moores University and leader of the UK contigent, presented the discovery at the Paris conference.
The planet circling HD 70642 is about twice as massive as Jupiter and orbits its star from a distance of 3.3 astronomical units (AU), which would place it somewhere between Mars and Jupiter in our Solar System. One AU is the distance between the Earth and the Sun, about 93 million miles (149 million kilometers), and Jupiter typically circles the Sun from an orbit of 5.2 AU. The new planet is faster than Jupiter too, completing one orbit in only six years, about half the time it takes Jupiter to round the Sun.
But what sets HD 70642's giant planet apart from other extrasolar worlds -- more than 100 of which have been found -- is its orbit. The newly found planet travels around its star on a path that, like Jupiter, is roughly circular, meaning there's room for smaller, Earth-like planets to orbit HD 70642 without the danger of being flung out of the planetary system.
Planet hunter Paul Butler, who established the extrasolar world-seeking team at AAT, told SPACE.com "If you put an Earth-like planet in this new system [around HD 70642] it would stay," Butler said.
The difference is critical for researchers bent on the search for planetary systems that mirror our own Solar System, and in doing so learn more about how the Earth formed and life began on our planet. It is even more critical for scientists hoping to find another Earth-like planet with the potential to sustain life, extraterrestrial or otherwise.
"I think the hunt for these planets is the greatest adventure in astronomy right now," Penny said.

Roswell set for its annual UFO festival
ROSWELL - New Mexico - USA - This city of 49,000 people has become accustomed to “visitors” over the years, but this weekend’s annual UFO festival promises to bring more than 10,000 strangers together to consider the possibility of a 1947 extraterrestrial crash.
Highlights this year include a Roswell film festival and an outdoor showing of the movie “Independence Day” on July 4, said Shawn Hughes, chief executive officer of the Roswell Chamber of Commerce.
Hughes said that last year’s festival had a $1.13 million economic impact on Roswell.
“Of course, the UFO phenomenon is a growing industry here,” Hughes said. He said interest in the crash brought $5.2 million to Roswell last year, without the festival.
During the festival, visitors will swarm the International Unidentified Flying Object Museum and Research Center, said Director Julie Shuster.
This year’s festival boasts appearances by some of the world’s foremost authorities on alien encounters including Derrel Sims, UFO investigator, and Donald Schmitt and Thomas Carey, two of Roswell’s UFO researchers. In addition to the exhibits and book signings beginning Thursday, there will be a concert Saturday night starring Merle Haggard, Pam Tillis and Marty Stewart.

Rockville California Crop Circles
ROCKVILLE - California - USA - Wheat farmer Larry Balestra might have trouble getting the most out of his field near Interstate 80. There are crop circles all over it.
Balestra, of Suisun City, found more than a dozen large flattened circles and shapes in his wheat field on Saturday, one of them more than 140 feet in diameter.
Balestra, an area farmer since 1986, says the stalks were curiously bent flat to the ground and the crop circles stretched out longer than a football field, forming various shapes and symmetrical designs.
Farm workers that live in a house near the field told Balestra they neither saw nor heard anything out of the ordinary on the night in question.

East Devon Crop Circles
East Devon - UK - 02 July 2003 - Have aliens made their mark in a Devon field, or could these first crop circles in the area be the work of pranksters?
Whoever or whatever is responsible for the circles, known to experts in the field as agriglyphs - from the Greek for field and carving - they have caused a stir at Colaton Raleigh, near Exmouth.
Locals have been scratching their heads in disbelief since they woke up to three geometrically perfect and artistic circles several days ago.
The elaborate patterns, bordered by two tram lines, have come to light in fields alongside Home Farm, owned by Bicton College.
News of the sightings swept through the East Devon community and people have been driving out to the sleepy village on the Newton Poppleford to Budleigh Salterton road to view the latest attraction.

The blast that baffled scientists
The bare facts are well documented. Ninety-five years ago today, on the cool, clear morning of June 30th, 1908, a gigantic ball of fire erupted in the sky in the vicinity of the Tunguska River, near Lake Baikal in eastern Siberia. The effects were evident both near and far.
Trees were levelled radially in a zone extending 30 miles from the occurrence; the driver of a train 400 miles away was obliged to bring his locomotive to a standstill as the Trans-Siberian railway heaved and quaked in front of him; and earth tremors and shock- waves were recorded on seismographs and barographs as far away as London. Fortunately, although the mighty explosion destroyed a herd of deer, it did not kill a single human being.
But what was the cause of this Tunguska fireball? Mainstream scientific opinion is largely united in its view that the "Tunguska Event" was caused by the arrival of a meteorite of unusual size, some 50 metres in diameter, or perhaps a fragment of a comet.
This celestial visitor, they say, did not fully survive its passage through the atmosphere, and exploded some 20,000 feet above the ground with the power of 1,000 bombs of the kind that devastated Hiroshima.
But there are vocal minority opinions. Sceptics point out that 35 expeditions over 75 years have failed to find any evidence that a meteorite or a comet fragment was to blame. No samples of an impacting object have been found; no evidence of a crater has been discovered; and no explanation has been offered for the reports of strange weather and increased seismic activity for several days before the incident.
Other sceptics point to the curious fact that geologists who tried to carbon-date the soil at Tunguska found that it was so enriched with carbon-14 that it shows up as a "future" date. The only explanation the geologists can suggest for such a signature is that a nuclear bomb or other device was detonated in the neighbourhood, but clearly 1908 was too early for any such activity. Was it perhaps some nuclear intrusion from outer space?
